PESTILENT (update)

Chapter 22

The Ham Radios

1

In the desolate landscape of an abandoned city street, a monstrous entity, standing at a towering height of fifteen feet, emerges with an ominous presence. Its bloated belly pouch, resembling a grotesque sac of impending doom, houses a deadly virus that, upon release through a menacing fart, swiftly extinguishes human life and reanimates the deceased into mobile corpses within a mere ten seconds. A menacingly large mouth adorned with razor-sharp teeth enhances the creature’s colossal form. In addition, it has no nose, eyes, or ears, making space for its vital brain to be shielded by steel on half of the head.

The impenetrable steel covering renders the monster resistant to bullets. The Pestilent is blind, yet it possesses acute super senses that extend for a mile, allowing it to track its prey with extraordinary accuracy. Its thick neck bears the weight of its massive head, and with long limbs, this monstrous creation moves with astonishing speed, surpassing even the swiftest human. As it traverses the forsaken street, a horde of the living dead shambles around, and any of the undead in its path is ruthlessly slapped aside, succumbing to an instant demise.

Driven by evil intent, the monstrous entity prowls the abandoned streets, relentlessly hunting for human survivors to subject to the horrific transformation into the living dead. The air is thick with the overwhelming dread of impending doom as this nightmarish presence leaves destruction in its wake, a haunting dance of death echoing through the ruin of the city’s forsaken streets.

Description:

His name is Doctor Hans Muller, also known as Doctor Murder. Who traveled the world until he formulated a formula to bring the dead back to life. Unfortunately, the formula failed miserably and instead turned the demised into monsters. Muller went crazy and sold the formula to an eccentric general who had a problem controlling his people. The general wanted the deadly recipe to be much more effective so that he could spread the virus more quickly and lethally. However, to do so, they had to hide the project in a more secretive location, away from secret agents. The place they chose is a remote place called Stellarville.

I'm experiencing some belly bloating at the moment, which reminds me to share this segment from Chapter 22, The HAM Radios. The first step of Professional Editing is done, primarily focusing on Proofreading, as I handled most of the Line Editing myself. Thanks to Artificial Intelligence, this was possible. However, if I were wealthy, I would prefer to hire a "human" Line Editor. The second step involves having several Beta Readers review the manuscript and afterward compare or combine their feedback to improve it further before hiring agents to search for Literary Agencies and Publishers that match the Manuscript. This will be done after another round of Proofreading to make 'PESTILENT: A Zombie Apocalypse Novel' more presentable.

Professional Editor:
I have worked with her on all my previously self-published books, and I am glad to have chosen her again for my latest manuscript. This will also be my first Zombie Apocalypse story. If everything goes as planned, this novel will be published traditionally.

Beta Readers:
I am not trying to be sexist, but the manuscript also includes touchy dramas, fantasy, and horror, and these women seem well-suited as Beta Readers for these genres. PESTILENT, however, also has action elements. For now, I will hold off on seeking a male Beta Reader specifically for the action scenes. Before that, I want to see if these women can offer unexpected insights for the action, especially within the horror context. Overall, I feel confident that I did my best with the action scenes.
