Chapter 22 The Ham Radios   1 In the desolate landscape of an abandoned city street, a monstrous entity, standing at a towering height of fifteen feet, emerges with an ominous presence. Its bloated belly pouch, resembling a grotesque sac of impending doom, houses a deadly virus that, upon release through a menacing fart, swiftly extinguishes human life and reanimates the deceased into mobile corpses within a mere ten seconds. A menacingly large mouth adorned with razor-sharp teeth enhances the creature’s colossal form. In addition, it has no nose, eyes, or ears, making space for its vital brain to be shielded by steel on half of the head.           The impenetrable steel covering renders the monster resistant to bullets. The Pestilent is blind, yet it possesses acute super senses that extend for a mile, allowing it to track its prey with extraordinary accuracy.   There is no doubt that these creatures have met their demise, lacking any sense of feeling, including fear, just the virus with the sole purpose of horrifying the living; the only actual death lies in what has taken over their bodies—demonic entities with no heavenly paradise awaiting them, as warned by Father Fernando.   That was just a segment from the final chapter of PESTILENT, titled 'The Freeway.' Originally, the book consisted of 28 chapters, but I later revised it down to 27. However, Chapter 27 became overly lengthy. Then, inspiration struck. It seemed only logical, right? So, I made the decision to split the chapter, ultimately reverting back to 28 chapters. Surprisingly, the outcome of this division took me by surprise. It's like playing Tetris, where you must swiftly decide where to place each piece. Thus far, I'm content with where this particular piece has landed—something along those lines.   I just turned 50 this year under the Aquarius Astrological sign and a Tiger in the Chinese Zodiac. My beautiful family is celebrating my 50th birthday, and there's no denying it; besides my laid-back job for the dollar and laid-back hobbies, I need to get in shape.
