PESTILENT: Query Letter

I know it’s bad to blog about my query letter, but either way, since I’ve noticed that I’m also a TI, it’s likely that the Asian Mafia or Reptilians blocked this awesome blog post. I don’t really know why, but ever since they discovered I can design an off-the-grid modern cabin, my Facebook content seems to be selected only to be viewed by dorks like me or relatives who are gaining popularity, and not far in need of collaboration of opening a profitable goat milk farm business any longer – It’s sad to say, though, that most of the potential collaborators have passed on back in my old village. However, I will write about them, or a village similar to it, in my storytelling. And I guarantee you will like them as well.

Anyhow, this is my version of the query letter, and it’s much different now. I like it better after the editor’s revisions. But I’d rather keep it private. If you’re a literary agent or publisher, please feel free to check out this query letter.

Subject: Query for “PESTILENT: A Zombie Apocalypse Novel”

Dear [Agent’s Name],

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to you with great enthusiasm to present my completed manuscript titled “PESTILENT: A Zombie Apocalypse Novel” for your consideration. With a word count of [sample: 111,000+] this gripping science fiction novel delves into a world of innovation, experimentation, and the dire consequences of tampering with the natural order.

In “PESTILENT,” readers are introduced to Doctor Hans Muller, a brilliant yet morally questionable scientist also known as “Doctor Murder.” Muller's insatiable curiosity drives him to traverse the globe in search of a formula capable of resurrecting the dead, specifically to revive his departed wife, Emma. However, his experiments yield horrifying results, transforming the deceased into monstrous beings from an alien virus.

Driven to madness by his failures, Muller sells his flawed formula to an eccentric general who seeks to utilize it for nefarious purposes. Desiring greater efficiency in spreading chaos, the general enlists Muller's expertise to enhance the virus's lethality. Together, they relocate their experiments to the remote enclave of Stellarville, away from prying eyes and interference from secret agents and opposed citizens.

My previous self-published works include “Carbon Planet: Our Destiny In The Stars,” released in 2022, and the five novella series “SWARM,” self-published in 2023. Notably, "SWARM" was consolidated into a single novel titled “SWARM: The Pentalogy,” highlighting my ability to construct world-building, engage readers, and maintain cohesive narratives across different formats.

I believe “PESTILENT” has the potential to captivate readers with its blend of scientific intrigue, moral dilemmas, and pulse-pounding action. Its exploration of the consequences of unchecked ambition and the boundaries of scientific ethics offers a thought-provoking narrative that will linger in readers’ minds long after they’ve turned the final page.

I am seeking representation for “PESTILENT” and would be honored to discuss any further details or provide a full manuscript for your review. Thank you for considering my work, and I look forward to the possibility of working together.

Warm regards,

Vincent Casil
