The Crazies

Image
The Crazies is a 2010 horror-thriller film directed by Breck Eisner . It is a remake of George A. Romero's 1973 film of the same name. The story is set in a small town where a toxin contaminates the water supply, causing the residents to go insane and turn violent. The film follows the struggles of the town's sheriff and his wife as they try to survive and escape the chaos. It's known for its tense and suspenseful atmosphere, as well as its exploration of the breakdown of society in a crisis. Zombies with guns? Well, not exactly reanimated corpses, but rather living beings infected with a virus that compels them to kill each other, ultimately resembling zombies, regardless of their previous personalities. It all began when some kind of biological weapon contaminated a military plane, causing it to crash-land in a small town's lake, contaminating the water supply. As people drank the water, they initially developed Alzheimer's symptoms and slowly transformed into t...

Train to Busan 2: PENINSULA

Image
Train to Busan 2 , also known as Peninsula , is a South Korean zombie apocalypse film and the sequel to the 2016 film Train to Busan . In Peninsula , the story is set four years after the events of the first film. It follows a soldier named Jung-seok, who is sent on a mission to retrieve an enormous sum of money left in the quarantined and zombie-infested city of Incheon. Jung-seok and his team must navigate this dangerous, post-apocalyptic world while contending with not only the undead but also human survivors who have become ruthless in their struggle to survive. The film explores themes of survival, loss, and the dark aspects of human nature in a world overrun by zombies. Exploring more zombie films, predominantly of Korean origin, I initially assumed a different director, but as the film unfolded, the familiar emotional depth emerged. It is the same filmmaker  Yeon Sang-ho .  In this desolate city overrun by zombies, corrupt individuals exploit the remnants, with soldier...

Gangnam Zombie

October is already here, and it's remarkable how I've managed to accomplish something I never thought possible when I first began developing these plots a decade ago. SWARM . Initially, the idea was to collaborate with comic book artists and explore what defines elite soldiers and other things. Now, I find myself overflowing with gratitude, unable to stop writing about it. It's as though I've stumbled upon one of life's journeys, magical realms, yet simultaneously grappling with the demons of doubt that persist. This blog, however, is about films or books I gathered to inspire me to write about zombies and their drama. This particular book I am doing is the more modern version of the original zombie movie, White Zombie . And I am trying to make it unique as possible with other stories like it. Nonetheless, this journey has grown beyond all expectations, evolving into what will ultimately become a novel. With newfound confidence, I'm gearing up to take a more tra...

SWARM 5 is Pubished

Image
Mission accomplished: The fifth installment of SWARM is published, which is the last series of five novellas. Thirteen years later, I never expected that those plots I wrote to pass the time when I began working as a security guard in 2010 would evolve into a book series. However, my original intent was to collaborate on a comic book idea, perhaps someday, or something similar to what Sylvester Stallone did with his movie, Rocky. Then, I suffered a sudden stroke due to my carelessness, compounded by my diabetes, and the demanding night shifts that exacerbated hypertension, the silent killer as doctors call it. Thankfully, I survived, but half my body was left crippled, and my brain sustained partial damage, resulting in slurred speech that made me sound like an alcoholic. It was a lonely place to be. However, in that moment, I remembered those seemingly frivolous plots I had written about what defines an elite soldier, something I had contemplated pursuing in the military back th...

Grocery Adventure of September 21, 2023

From New India Bazar!  I usually eat samosas with sugar-free pancake syrup. These packets are convenient and come with a self-serve stand with small brown bags and a tong. The chutney sauce tastes like mild vinegar with a hint of sweetness. Use cash to pay 99 cents for each samosa. If using cards, charges go a bit higher. From my aunt. I never asked where she got them from until I craved them one time and found out something I never knew about these leaves: their international name other than Saluyot. Saluyot is just a farmer's food to Filipino villagers, so it never crossed my mind that it was more than just a vegetarian diet. They are strong though, most of them who eat them almost daily and are built like Bruce Lee. Some old men brag that their arsenals are built like a rock from eating them. But I thought that was just farm talk. Leaves from the provinces. I'm sure my aunt also shares these precious leaves with inner family circles. I wonder if she or they know the benefits...
